<image:caption>In 2018, Summit Ecological Consulting was contracted by Summit Metro Parks of Summit County, Ohio to draft a Nine Element Nonpoint Source Implementation Strategic (NPS-IS) Plan, which is now required by both the federal and state EPAs in order to receive §319 grant funding. The plan characterizes the 29,722-acre Boston Run-Cuyahoga River watershed, known impairments and causes, and proposed projects to achieve aquatic life use attainment. Summit Ecological Consulting worked closely with Summit Metro Parks to ensure that project expectations and deliverables were aligned throughout the drafting and submittal process.</image:caption>

<image:title>Client-Focused Solutions - Eastern Prairie Fringed Orchid Survey</image:title>
<image:caption>In June 2019, we were contracted to conduct a presence/probable absence survey for the federally threatened Eastern prairie fringed orchid (Platanthera leucophaea). We first met with a botanist from the USFWS to observe a known population to attain a search image and to confirm that the plants were in fact at or near peak bloom. Following the visit, Summit Ecological Consulting performed a full pedestrian survey of the proposed project area.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bats - Acoustic Surveys</image:title>
<image:caption>Sometimes mist net surveys are what the situation calls for. Sometimes acoustic surveys are needed. Unconventional sites, cost constraints, specific sampling requirements—whatever the reason, acoustic surveys are sometimes unavoidable and Summit Ecological Consulting has the experience to collect, organize, process, and vet dozens to thousands of vocalizations. From northern long-eared bats in Maine to Florida bonneted bats—we’ll go there.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Occasionally, impacts to listed bat species are unavoidable. Let us streamline your consultation process and draft conservation plans incorporating elements to avoid, minimize, and mitigate (and monitor!) impacts to listed bat species. We are very familiar with West Virginia’s “Indiana Bat Conservation Plans” or IBCPs and can have you through that process quickly and without stress.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bats - Florida Bonneted Bat Surveys</image:title>
<image:caption>Florida Bonneted Bats are listed as endangered by the USFWS, and are only known to exist in a handful of locations in a few counties in southern Florida. Acoustic surveys targeting this rare species remain the best and most cost-effective option to determine presence and we have the experience to conduct those surveys from Fort Myers to Miami.</image:caption>
